It’s not always easy to notice damage to your drain lines and pipe systems. And, unfortunately, sometimes the damage that is there can be fixed. In some cases, when drains are collapsed or can’t be rectified, excavation is the only solution.
But, many times, damage to the interior walls of your sewer line can be repaired with something called drain lining.
Drain lining is a great way to make sure your pipes are in working order (especially if you run a commercial business). It helps to secure your sewer system without having to dig anything up.
So, how does it work?
What Does Drain Lining Do?
Drain lining fits up to its name. It adds a protective layer/coating to the inside of your drain line that helps to prevent cracks and damage over time.
The process itself starts with an inspection. Your drains should be thoroughly cleaned out using high-pressure water jetting so we can get a good look at any potential damage and assess what needs to be done. A clean surface also makes it easier for the lining to attach to the sides of the pipes, ensuring a secure fit that will help to make your drains stronger.
The lining itself is made from a strong, flexible resin. It can either be shaped to the walls or forced to the sides of the pipes using pressure. After it is fully installed, we use a hardening process to secure it in place.
What Are the Benefits?
The biggest benefit of drain lining is that it can keep your pipes strong and prevent cracking and damage that could end up costing thousands of dollars. But, there are plenty of additional ‘pros’ to consider, including:
It helps with water flow
It’s a quick and easy process
It’s cost-effective
It can last for years
It works on pipes of all sizes
If you’re still not sure how drain lining works, think of it as a non-invasive surgery for your pipes. Instead of having to excavate your entire sewer line, drain lining allows us to repair them and make them stronger through little more than a key-hole.
Do I Need Drain Lining?
As with anything else that sees a lot of use, it’s normal for drain lines to experience wear and tear over the years. Maybe you’ve never had to think much about it because you’ve never had an issue with your pipes before.
But, whether you run a business that can’t afford to have sewer issues, or you live in an older home and you’ve never had the sewer line examined, you may be at risk of having old, damaged pipes. If you let the problem continue without doing anything about it, you could find yourself with a sewer emergency on your hands, and a much bigger project that could take a long time to fix.
